The Couch Runner

"My sit!"
So, somehow this weekend feels like it was longer than last, despite not involving two bank holidays and nearly four days of unalloyed solo time. In part this is because Arya was even more lively, and having taken a shine to the low balance beam at nursery is now convinced that the sofa arm is to be used for the same purposes.

The result of this is of course to reduce her parents to a perpetual state of low-level cardiac spasm because OH MY GOD SHE'S GOING TO FALL.

She has a complex relationship to potty training. On the one hand, she isn't entirely aware still of her functions, but on the other she likes to go nappy free and is really taken with her new knickers, sometimes wearing as many as three or four pairs at once and often one of them as knickers, rather than some sort of belt. Not that this signifies for certain; she wanted to put her mother's bra on last night, so she may just be wanting to dress like mummy. She is also very keen to try to use the potty, but often just because it's an alternative to having a bath. She's not doing her best eating at the moment, and in fact has generally gone back to milk in a big way. This is problematic as her bigger stomach holds more milk and she still processes it very quickly, leading to... incidents.
This, however, is Arya receiving her 'used
the potty' stickers.

We've had a bit of an idle weekend, mostly broken only by a little shopping and a visit from an old friend to pick up some books for his daughter to borrow. Arya was once again initially very shy, but got more confident with time. It helps that, having two daughters of his own, Jon has a solid understanding of how to deal with little girls.

We actually had naps on Saturday and Sunday, and on Sunday without having to push her for a mile while she leaned sideways out of the buggy. She slept through to about half five on Sunday morning, but this morning I went in with her at I know not when, then brought her through when she started asking for Mummy at 1:30. At I still don't know when, I went back next door on my own, since she'd not only rolled sideways, pushing me to the edge of the bed, she had then planted a kick square in my forehead.

If the blog lacks my usual sparkle this week, it'll be because of the tiredness.

New phrase of the week: "More Mimin," which translates as 'I would like to watch another short film featuring the Minions from Despicable Me.

She was super good at the dentist this morning, although a bit of a trial coming home and getting ready to go out. This is 'testing boundaries', and I believe it lasts until she wants us to pay for her mortgage.
